We will meet you at Bandaranaike International Airport upon your arrival and transfer you to your hotel in Anuradhapura. After settling in, take some time to rest before embarking on an afternoon city tour. Explore the ancient city of Anuradhapura, known for its impressive archaeological sites and rich history. Visit sacred temples, ancient stupas, and royal palaces, gaining insights into Sri Lanka's cultural heritage. Conclude the tour with a return to your hotel for a relaxing dinner and a good night's sleep, preparing you for more adventures in Anuradhapura.
After breakfast, our first stop will be the ruins of the Ruwanweliseya Temple, Abhayagiriya Temple, and the Jetawanaramaya Dagobas, significant landmarks in Anuradhapura showcasing ancient Buddhist architecture and religious devotion. We will then visit the Kuttam Pokuna, renowned for its twin ponds, and the Samadhi Buddha statue, known for its serene and contemplative pose. Afterward, we will journey to Polonnaruwa to explore the ancient ruins of the Polonnaruwa Royal Palace, offering a glimpse into Sri Lanka's medieval history and royal life. At the end of the day, we will check in at your hotel in Sigiriya, where you can relax and unwind after a day of cultural exploration.
On Day 3 of your itinerary, we will depart from Sigiriya and proceed towards Kandy, making several notable stops along the way. Our first destination will be Dambulla, where we will visit the renowned Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its ancient rock cave paintings and statues. From there, we will continue our journey through Matale, where we will visit a spice garden to learn about Sri Lanka's rich spice heritage and see firsthand how spices are cultivated and processed. Finally, we will reach Kandy, the cultural capital of Sri Lanka, famous for its Temple of the Tooth Relic, where Lord Buddha's sacred tooth is enshrined. Enjoy the scenic drive and cultural discoveries throughout the day.
After breakfast, embark on a tour of Kandy city, beginning with a scenic drive around the Upper Lake Drive to admire the city's natural beauty. Next, visit the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya, renowned for its diverse plant species and picturesque landscapes. Afterwards, journey to the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawala, where you can observe and learn about rescued elephants in a natural setting. Conclude the tour with flexible options: we can either drop you off in Colombo city for further exploration or transfer you directly to the airport for your departure, ensuring a seamless transition based on your travel plans.
